George Hadley, the immigrant ancestor, was born in England, and settled as early as 1639, in Ipswich, Massachusetts, removing in 1655 to Rowlley. The theory as to the parents of George Hadley, Based on several publicshed sources, web sites, and other family trees is, GEORGE HADLEY and ELIZABETH SPOONER. According to some sources the First George and Elizabeth were married in Frostenden, Suffolk, England 24 June 1624. There are also resources that say that George and Elizabeth had another child name George, who was their first born. This first son George died at a very young age, perhaps as a baby.
Mary sometimes documented as Maria Proctor, was the daughter of John Proctor and Martha Harper. Mary's brother was John Proctor was was tried during the Salem Witch trials. John Proctor was hung for being a witch. The movie "The Crucible" is about said John Proctor. Susanna North Martin another relative of ours was tried as a witch and lost her life as well.

Samuel fell in love with and married Rachel Gillis. Rachel was born 1 September 1780 and she lived until 2 April 1815.
Together Samuel and Rachel had the following children.
Ira...... born 21 December 1796
Carlton....born 20 January 1801
Willis.....born 3 April 1803
Lewis......born 27 October 1806

As you can see Lucy Ann was sborn in 1811 and their mother Rachel died in 1815. Lucy was just a little over 3 years old. With the young children in the home it would have been natural for Samuel to remarry. To find a woman to help take care of the children. I don't know if he ever did.
